Trick-or-Treat Hours & Dallin's House Rules

DALLIN. Every year the newsroom gets some version of the same question before Halloween, so here it is in one place: trick-or-treat runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on October 31st, town-wide. No separate schedule for different neighborhoods this year, one set of hours, so nobody's out on porch duty later than they planned to be.

Beyond the hours, Dallin runs on a few rules nobody wrote down until now:

  • Porch light on means come knock. Porch light off means the house is sitting this one out, no hard feelings either way.
  • Watch for kids in the road, not just on the sidewalk. Drive it like the whole street is a crosswalk between 5:30 and 8:30, because it is.
  • Allergy-friendly houses are marking themselves with a teal pumpkin on the porch. Non-food treats live in a separate bowl at those houses. Look for it before you assume.
  • Dogs are welcome on the sidewalk, leashed, same as any other night. Domino will be out there working the crowd again this year, ribbon and all.
  • Older kids trick-or-treating without a costume effort get candy anyway. This isn't a house that turns anyone away at the door, just maybe don't expect the good stuff.

Questions that don't fit here can go straight to the newsroom, see below.
